Sea Shepherd wants Metallica to speak out (Leak no. 8)

14/10/2015

PictureFirst you spoil our good name - and now you want our help ..? Well, f*** you very much, Sea Shepherd!
This one is funny indeed - the minions from Sea Shepherd now want Erik Biskopstøð and Steintór Rasmussen NOT to have a Summer Festival in the Faroe Islands - because they will speak to bands like Metallica and convince them NOT to attend any such festivals as G! or the Summer Festival. We will ask Erik or Steintór for a comment on this later this week.

Hi Farrah

I think against the Faroes a boycott is a tool that could be very
effective. Our own history says: "In 2000 Sea Shepherd brought economic pressure to bear against those companies still purchasing seafood from the Faroes and as a result – over 20,000 European retail outlets terminated their Faeroese fish contracts."

It would be a great opportunity to involve the different SS chapters to map for their own region/country what is imported from the Faroes and where it goes and then target these supermarket chains, restaurants, fish & chips shops etc. Besides fish exports the tourism operators and cruise liners could be a target.
I think local musicians will be difficult to convince to speak out, that might work better in Denmark (Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich is Danish). A few weeks ago Twisted Sister played in the Faroes; these foreign bands might be easier to convince to pull out of festivals.

Kind regards

Response from Farrah:

Hello everyone

I spoke to a few of our big supporters and they suggested we start going after the restaurants that sell seafood from the Faroes. Supposedly it’s all over the menus in Nantucket which is an extremely affluent community.

They also suggested we try to get to all the sponsors from the big festival and ask them to pull out for next year. Rosie and Lamya-do you
remember who they were?

We should see if we can get any of our celebrity musicians to talk to the local bands ask them not to play the festival. I was told these are the most popular. Do we have connections to any of them or a bad history?

Teitur Lassen or Eivør (Eivør Pálsdóttir), Anna Katrin Egilstrøð, Annika av Matras, Lena (Lena Andersen), Høgni Reistrup, Høgni Lisberg, HEIÐRIK (Heiðrik á Heygum), Guðrið Hansdóttir and Brandur Enni. Well-known bands include Týr, Gestir, Hamferð, The Ghost, Boys in a Band, ORKA, 200, Grandma's Basement, SIC, and the former band Clickhaze.

I know we have stayed away from boycotting countries in the past, but how do we feel about doing it now??

What are we doing to push back on the government of Denmark??

Thank you

Farrah - email: farrah@seashepherd.org

Not only does Sea Shepherd want to stop the music in Faroe Islands - but they also want the word to boycott our food, and also to prevent tourism in the Faroe Islands. My question is simple: "When the f*** are the politician going to WAKE up - and start BANNING this assholes ?!?"
